Very popular Chinese deity known for her compassion for human suffering, She is usually portrayed with regal beauty, a fair complexion, elegant eyebrows, graceful eyes, flowing garments and halo. She holds a willow branch in her right hand and a vase of sweet magical dew in her left hand. She uses the willow twigs to sprinkle dew over the human world to relieve mortals of their suffering.
Quan yin is reputed to be a symbol of fertility and will often be portrayed with children she watches over mothers and children and encourages a youthful and joyful outlook on life.
